From Army Spurs to Business School: My Next Mission
After five rewarding years in the U.S. Army, I'm excited to announce the next chapter in my journey: This coming January 2026, I'll be joining INSEAD at their Fontainebleau campus to pursue my Masters in Business Administration.

Making the Decision
The decision to transition from military leadership to global business wasn't made lightly. For the past half-decade, I've had the privilege of serving as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army. Most of this time I served in the 2nd Cavalry Regiment forward stationed in Germany. My experiences in NATO operations have sharpened my leadership skills, tested my decision-making abilities under pressure, and taught me how to build cohesive teams in challenging environments.
However, as my time in the Wolfpack Squadron comes to an end, I find myself drawn to new challenges. The rapidly evolving global business landscape presents unique opportunities to apply the strategic thinking I've developed in the military to help organizations navigate change and innovation across international markets.
Reflecting on Military Service
Leaving the Army comes with mixed emotions. The Wolfpack Squadron of 2CR has been my home and family for many years. I've grown immensely as a leader, forged lifelong friendships, and participated in meaningful work strengthening NATO partnerships across Europe.
While I have had the privilege of leading, working alongside, and following countless tremendous leaders, I particularly benefited from the mentorship of two outstanding men: Captain Gregg Roder and Lieutenant Colonel Peter Erickson. They not only guided me through the challenges faced operating in a dynamic environment on the European continent, but also these mentors personally helped me through this transition.
The Path Forward
Over the coming months, I'll be documenting this transition journey – from my remaining time in the Army through my preparations for business school and eventually my experiences at INSEAD. Some challenges might prove 2scott2handle alone, but with the strategic approach I've developed in the military, I'm ready to face them.
This site will serve as both a record of this journey and a resource for other aspiring professionals considering similar transitions. I hope my experiences can illuminate the path for those who will follow.
The uniform changes, but the mission continues: to lead with purpose, think strategically, and create positive impact. I hope you'll follow along.
